Commissions

I design and create bespoke pieces of one-off jewellery and sculpture for clients who want something unique for themselves or to mark a special event.

This is the aspect of my work that I probably enjoy the most. The process of working with a client to develop a design that captures all the elements of their brief - who it is for, what this piece of jewellery represents to them, their inspiration point or their own particular style and taste - to wrap this all up and condense it into a design that also  excites me and makes me eager to create it.

These projects are where I get to flex my design and technique 'muscles' and I always like to try to stretch myself, to include elements in the design where I am going to have to learn or refine a skill to be able to pull them off and create something special.

Developing a design with a client and then creating that piece for them means that you are making objects that they will treasure - and more importantly - wear for the rest of their lives. These are objects that will be handed down to the next generation and will have their stories told as they are passed on. These are the heirlooms of the future and I feel privileged to make them for the people who commission them from me.

Please contact me if you would like to have a chat with me about commissioning a unique piece of my work.

Here is a small selection of the commission pieces I have made over the last few years.

I created this impressive sterling silver necklace to showcase my client's large emerald. The fretwork setting allows light to shine through all sides of the stone, flooding it with internal light. The pattern was inspired by 15th Century Moorish decorative motifs. This intricate detail was hand cut and the chain is hand forged.

Rowan Leaf brooches

These silver brooches were commissioned by my client to mark the birth of their friends' new baby boy, Rowan. They wanted a special gift for each parent, so I designed His and Hers brooches which feature an impressed rowan leaf pattern. They are decorated with hand fused gold details and set with clusters of garnet beads to resemble bunches of rowan berries.

Ages of Ireland bracelet

This piece was commissioned for the niece of my client. They wanted to give her something that would remind her of Ireland, the homeland of her parents. Each section of the bracelet is inspired by an artefact from a different period in Irish history; a Neolithic stone head, a Bronze Age gold boat, an Iron Age gold sun disc, the manuscripts of the early Medieval period, a Viking dragon and a Medieval brooch. It is hand forged from sterling silver and set with natural pearls.

Monogram Cufflinks

These sterling silver cufflinks were commissioned by my client to mark a significant birthday for her husband. As he is a stylish but classical type of man, we decided on hand engraved Georgian lettering and some tube set diamonds. Simple and elegant.
